The GSA Choir presents the world premiere recording of "The Present", by renowned Scottish composer, Sir James MacMillan, with lyrics by Francis Henry Newbery. The release celebrates the 10th anniversary of the ensemble.
Discussing the release, Musical Director, Jamie Sansbury, says, "Over the last ten years the GSA Choir has developed into one of Glasgow's largest choirs and one which, I am still proud to say, is non-auditioned and open to all. The world premiere recording of "The Present" - and the fact that James MacMillan was willing to compose for the ensemble - is testament to the quality of the choir, and the dedication of its singers.
"During the last decade we have established a reputation for a commitment to contemporary choral music (having, over the last ten years, commissioned fourteen new choral works) so it is fitting that our anniversary is celebrated with this recording."
